A pan-African structure
Three levels, one crown
National selection
Each participating country organises its own national selection. The winner becomes Africa Royal Queen [Country] and officially represents her nation in the pan-African competition.
International preparation
Selected candidates join the international ARQ programme: photo shoots, training, cultural activities, tourist visits, institutional meetings, social actions, rehearsals, interviews and media events.
Grand African final
The national representatives gather in the host country for the grand final, its rounds, the jury deliberation and the crowning.

Six regions are targeted for the inaugural edition. The number of participating countries will change from one edition to the next, depending on the national directorates in place.

Step by step
From the national selection to the crown
Six stages take a candidate from her country's application form to the stage of the grand final.
National selection
The National Director opens applications in the country, gathers the files and runs the pre-selection. Auditions and casting keep the profiles that will reach the national contest.

What the jury assesses
The final rounds will be detailed in the official ARQ regulations. The programme may include:
National presentation
The candidate presents her country, its history, its culture and what makes it unique.
Interview
Personality, intelligence, expression, knowledge of Africa and leadership.
African culture
History, culture, heritage, African figures and current affairs of the continent.
Talent
An artistic, cultural or professional talent presented on stage.
Tourism presentation
Each candidate promotes a destination of her country.
Social project
Presentation of an initiative serving her community.
Runway
Stage presence, elegance and attitude.
Grand final
The finalists answer the jury's last questions before the crowning.
Participation
General participation criteria
Final conditions will be set out in the official ARQ regulations. In general terms, candidates must:
- Be a national of, or meet the representation conditions of, their country
- Respect the official age range of the edition
- Provide the required administrative documents
- Comply with the rules of the competition
- Accept the ARQ code of conduct
- Be available during the official periods
- Take part in the compulsory activities
- Honour media and institutional commitments

The winner holds the title for her whole mandate: international events, partner campaigns, social actions and tourism visits.
